I think they reacted that way because poetry gives you a different feeling when you understand it, sometimes it surprises and leaves you speechless.It can move people in different ways and even open up new ways of viewing the world.

   The Great Gatsby, a novel written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, is a story that uses characterization to show that happiness is not really attainable. Fitzgerald shows this by making most of the characters selfish, greedy, and unhappy with their lives. He tries to show us that no matter what you have in life people will always be unhappy with what they have. For example, Gatsby is a millionaire with a big house and an expensive car but he is still unhappy because he wants the girl of his dreams. Tom Buchanan is married to Daisy but he isn't happy with just her so he gets a mistress. APRIL 21 JOURNAL

Today, i got the chance to cook a meal for my nephews since i take care of them. I always make them food, but its always packaged food so i don't really get to be creative with it. But this time i got to cook chicken with my own seasoning and my own instructions. It took some time but it was pretty fun and the kids loved it.

My Learning Fall and Rise

       I have changed a lot over the past 4 months. This class has changed my views on teachers and the way I view schoolwork. When I first entered this class, I didn’t expect it to be different than any other English class I’ve had. My plan was to sit in the corner, participate as little as possible, do my book work and get a C in the class. I didn’t have respect for teachers and my only purpose in school was to learn as much as I could and go home. When we were asked to choose how the course would run, I was a little sketched out, I thought he was testing us or something, but he even went out of the room and gave us time to choose.
